I view Smart Power to be very similar to how the Internet is designed. All devices will have an identifying number, similar to how the Internet uses IP numbers. However, I think that unapproved devices will not be able to obtain electricity from the Smart Power grid. Also, I think approved devices won't be able to ever be turned off. So, a computer with a microphone and camera may never be able to be turned off, or disconnected from electrical power. In short, they'll control what is electrically powered, and when it is on and when it is off. The public will no longer have a deision in when something is on or off. So, just imagine someone else determining when the lights are on or off in your home, or when your TV is on or off. Not a pretty thought.
