Yeah, this is a bizarre video production, but it is highly informative, ultimately explaining why John von Neumann invented computers while at Princeton, creating a self-referencing trickery that created a complete & consistent system from one that really is NOT. I'll use this thread to further develop these thoughts, but thought I'd get the video out there first for readers to chew on.

So, to setup this thread, we'll need to start with Godel, for he is the one that created, or identified the problem that computers attempt to overcome.

Gödel's second theorem says, roughly, that no system of a certain strength can prove its own consistency unless it is inconsistent.

Computers, or more specifically, computer networks, attempt to make inconsistent systems consistent, and therefore complete. This is why, as our society "progresses", more and more of our social systems are migrating to computer networks.

Please ask questions on this point, because this is key to understanding the trajectory of society.

There are many other new issues that are raised by the
appearance of modern computers. The most extreme issue,
perhaps, is that Godel numbering is now feasible.

"Godel made self-reference possible in a system that was designed to keep self-reference out"

Hence, computers make can make an inconsistent-incomplete system consistent and complete.
