I think all of the occult/esoteric aspects is propaganda, designed to send outsiders, AND insiders, into magical thinking. Remember, it is just as important to control those inside the high ranks of Masonry or Temple of Set as it is to control those outside them. It's just vectoring.... part of the Invisible Warfare (IW) game.

Nevertheless, the occult permeates our culture, so a means of understanding it would be helpful in comprehending this system.

i agree. i think its bad too focus on it too much. but i think to be made aware of the symbolism and attachment of meaning behind it would be quite helpful in flagging those things with occult attachments.
