PostSubject: DARPA goes Deep Green   Thu 17 Jun 2010, 5:58 pm

Interesting article at Wired discussing some new initiatives at DARPA to support decision-making. Most notably, they seek to compress the OODA loop into one prescient technology.

Quote :
Specifically, the “venerable Observe Orient Decide Act (OODA) loop is no longer viable for an information-age military.” To fight a fast-moving foe, these four tasks have to now happen all at once. That’s the goal of Deep Green.

http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2007/07/darpa-deep-gree/

The hierarchical evolution

Quote :
The Observe (execution monitoring) and Orient (options generation and analysis) phases run continuously and are constantly building options based on the current operation and making predictions as to the direction the operation is taking. When something occurs that requires the commander’s attention or a decision, options are immediately available. Ideally, the OO part of OODA is done many times prior to the time when the commander must decide. When the planning and execution monitoring components of Deep Green mature, the planning staff will be working with semi-automated tools to generate and analyze courses of action ahead of the operation while the command concentrates on the Decide phase. By focusing on creating options ahead of the real operation rather than repairing the plan, Deep Green will allow commanders to be proactive instead of reactive in dealing with the enemy.

My impression so far of what the ESSENCE of the OODA Loop is is: to Outthink your opponent. Sort of a 4thGW concept (which may also be applied to marketing, and other competitive fields.) Am I in the ballpark on this??

If I can jump in here, I would say that it is more than "out thinking" your opponent, because "out thinking" does not necessarily involve deliberate scientifically designed deception. What's happening here is that all of the input into your senses is being manufactured in a carefully constructed way, so that you will come to predetermined thoughts and actions, that will then lead to another set of new realities, or from the reading, what I understand to be called "harmonization".

"Out thinking" would assume that both parties have identical inputs, and one is simply able to more accurately analyze the situation faster than the other party. In this scenario, both parties are on a level playing field.

It looks to me like in our current societal reality, the public is lead to believe that it is on a level playing field, but it is NOT. Hence, the public's conclusions, whether achieved quickly or not, are generally predetermined. So, who cares if the guy from MIT gets to that conclusion faster than the high school dropout, just so long as they both get to the properly designed conclusions.

This forum is about seeing those efforts for what they are, and then coming to conclusions based upon a reality that we are not supposed to see or understand. By doing this, hopefully we'll draw conclusions and take actions that genuinely safeguard us from harm.

This is my understanding of all of this. Please criticize it if I am wrong:

In order to understand what is going on today, first read the Set of Main Articles from Knowledge Driven Revolution: http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/5/12/2439876/Set-of-Main-Articles-From-Knowledge-Driven-Revolution-by-Brent-Jessop.pdf

Then read Between Two Ages by Zbigniew Brzezinski and The Technological Society by Jaques Ellul.

Then watch "Das Netz":

Then read Revolution in Military Affairs - 1990 up to the present.: http://www.scribd.com/doc/161850382/Revolution-in-Military-Affairs-1990-up-to-the-Present]Revolution in Military Affairs - 1990 up to the present

This discusses the Revolution in Military Affairs, insight into which can be gained by reading the military "future history", Revolution in Military Affairs and Conflict Short of War (http://www.oldthinkernews.com/2011/05/1994-army-war-college-paper-proposes-use-of-computer-generated-insurgents/). RMA concepts actually are also expressed metaphorically in video games like Metal Gear Solid 2 - see this analysis.: http://archive.org/details/PopularSymbolism-MetalGearSolid2SonsOfLiberty-InformationControl

Then, read the military document Joint Vision 2020, which lays out the agenda of Full Spectrum Dominance.: http://www.scribd.com/doc/33264319/Joint-Vision-2020

Then, read Control Warfare: Inside the OODA Loop.: http://www.scribd.com/doc/33264282/Control-Warfare-Inside-the-OODA-Loop

Which discusses the OODA loop, one of the battlefields on which the RMA operates (this is discussed in Revolution in Military Affairs - 1990 up to the present). OODA stands for Observe-Orient-Decide-Act. The traditional usage of the term refers to the military exercising their OODA loop in a manner more efficient than the enemy. Another usage of the term (such as in Control Warfare) refers to anticipating the enemy’s (our) actions based on knowledge of the environment from which they (we) absorb inputs, and knowledge of their (our) genetic, cultural, and informational makeup, from which decisions and actions can be inferred.

In Brent Jessop's document, excerpts are given from an important military document on information warfare, which contains the phrase, "We must fight the net." This article is thehe 2003 Pentagon document entitled the Information Operations Roadmap was released to the public after a Freedom of Information Request by the National Security Archive at
George Washington University in 2006  - Jessop cuts through the rhetoric to reveal the reality - that it targets everybody, including U.S. citizens: https://archive.org/stream/SetOfMainArticlesFromKnowledgeDrivenRevolution/Set-of-Main-Articles-From-Knowledge-Driven-Revolution-by-Brent-Jessop#page/n179/mode/2up

The article Constant Conflict by Ralph Peters, in the U.S. Army War College quarterly Parameters (Summer 1997, pp. 4-14), provides insights. He wrote:
"We  have entered an age of constant conflict. Information is at once our core commodity and the most destabilizing factor of our time. Until now, history has been a quest to acquire information; today, the challenge lies in managing information. Those of us who can sort, digest, synthesize, and apply relevant knowledge soar--professionally, financially, politically, militarily, and socially. We, the winners, are a minority.

For the world masses, devastated by information they cannot manage or effectively interpret, life is "nasty, brutish . . . and short-circuited." The general pace of change is overwhelming, and information is both the motor and signifier of change. Those humans, in every country and region, who cannot understand the new world, or who cannot profit from its uncertainties, or who cannot reconcile themselves to its dynamics, will become the violent enemies of their inadequate governments, of their more fortunate neighbors, and ultimately of the United States. We are entering a new American century, in which we will become still wealthier, culturally more lethal, and increasingly powerful. We will excite hatreds without precedent." (emphasis added)

A related item - military literature has actually discussed disabling the cognitive function of political dissidents, like the document “Toward Narrative Disruptors and Inductors: Mapping the Narrative Comprehension Network and its Persuasive Effects”, which notes that "Once the research group determines which parts of the brain are associated with cognitive reasoning and narrative comprehension, they will be attempt to impair those sections in order to “create a fundamental basis for understanding how to disrupt or enhance aspects of narrative structure and/or brain functioning to minimize or maximize persuasive effects on subject proclivity to engage in political violence.” (Page 23) ": http://www.activistpost.com/2013/07/secret-darpa-mind-control-project.html

Here is a military PR video that breaks this down, giving us the context that the goal is for the military’s OODA loop to be quicker and more efficient than the enemy’s, integrating Sensors (O), situational awareness (O), dynamic command and control (D), and effects delivery (A):

What Military PR omits, however, is that in the context of Full Spectrum Dominance, all battlefields must be completely controlled. Therefore, all inputs informing the OODA loop of the enemy must be manufactured and not leave the acceptable domain of information. Therefore, alternative media, even though it is superior to mainstream media in some respects, is immediately suspect, since it would be instantly marginalized if it were not approved. Thus, we can say that much of the alternative media is designed to create a controlled anti-thesis to this system, leading to a new synthesis that leaves the fundamentals of this Global Beehive undisturbed. Indeed, the military anticipated this antithesis, calling it the “Eagle Movement” in their future history.

In other words, it is insufficient to form your opinions based on the opposite of the mainstream since neither the thesis nor the anti-thesis address the prime realities of this system. This brings to mind a theoretical psychology high school teacher of mine who I was told said that Nietzsche called a person who formed their beliefs based on the mainstream a "stupid person #1" or a "first kind of stupid person", and called a person who formed their values based on the opposite of mainstream values a "stupid person #2" or a "second kind of stupid person". I have no idea if Nietzsche used those terms or not, but it illustrates the point beautifully.

Also, there are dialectics in "opposition" forces as well. The following example will elucidate this further.

Let’s look at this in terms of economic paradigms. Two of the most prominent attacks on the current system, libertarian (Austrian) and socialist (Marxist), are actually systems of control in disguise. The Marxist paradigm completely ignores the problem of central banking and fails to realize that we are under a banker parasitic and corporate socialist, and not a capitalist, system. Instead, it proposes central planners and political technocrats to introduce a new kind of tyranny. The Austrian paradigm re-instantiates feudalism by giving power to those who control the gold supply (the Rothschilds), who can expand and contract it as they wish, so as to have the world’s economies at their mercy. The libertarian paradigm is simply a rebranding of much mainstream capitalism anyway - its "free trade" rhetoric and policies are criticized here: http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-globalization-of-poverty-deconstructing-the-new-world-order/29554, and aspects of the economic weapons were facilitated by the same circles: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2288294/The-banker-shaped-modern-world-WWII-Soviet-spy-wanted-America-communist.htm (see also the Summer 2008 issue of The Independent Review, in a review by Richard M. Ebeling  of Jörg Guido's "Mises: The Last Kight of Liberalism" entitled " The Life and Works of Ludwig von Mises", we find that  " Hayek pointed out that virtually all of his own contributions to monetary and business-cycle theory, his critique of socialism and planning, his analysis of competition and the market process, and his critical studies of scientism, positivism, and historicism were all deeply influenced, if not directly inspired, by Mises’s earlier writings in every one of these areas of research.  [...] Many readers may be surprised to learn the extent to which the Graduate Institute and then Mises himself in the years immediately after he came to United States were kept afloat financially through generous grants from the Rockefeller Foundation. In fact, for the first years of Mises’s life in the United States, before his appointment as a visiting professor in the Graduate School of Business Administration at New York University (NYU) in 1945, he was almost totally dependent on annual research grants from the Rockefeller Foundation.": http://www.independent.org/publications/tir/article.asp?a=692 ) facilitating globalist power grabs: http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/un_exposed/un_exposed.htm (see the following New York Times article, "Trotsky Predicts Revolution in the U.S. He Expects Rockefeller to tell Hague how to run it", Dec. 13, 1938 - preserved here: http://www.american-buddha.com/trotskypredictsrevolutioninuspdf%5B1%5D.pdf -and the following items concerning social engineering projects from these groups even relating to this issue: http://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/001119796), seems to me to be one "technique" that could also be used to facilitate Globalized control per this analysis: http://mailstar.net/classwar.html).

The Socialist paradigm is obviously an elite project. As Carroll Quigley, Bill Clinton's mentor, said, "the power these energetic left wingers exercised was never their own ... but was ultimately the power of the international financial coterie. ... a congressional committee, following backward to their source the threads which led from admitted Communists like Whittaker Chambers, through Alger Hiss, and the Carnegie Endowment to Thomas Lamont and the Morgan Bank, fell into the whole complicated network of the interlocking tax-exempt foundations. The Eighty-third Congress in July 1953 set up a Special Committee to Investigate Tax-Exempt Foundations with Representative B. Carroll Reece, of Tennessee, as chairman. It soon became clear that people of immense wealth would be unhappy if the investigation went too far and that the "most respected" newspapers in the country, closely allied with these men of wealth, would not get excited enough about any revelations to make the publicity worth while, in terms of votes or campaign contributions. An interesting report showing the Left-wing associations of the interlocking nexus of tax-exempt foundations was issued in 1954 rather quietly. Four years later, the Reece committee's general counsel, René A. Wormser, wrote a shocked, but not shocking, book on the subject called Foundations: Their Power and Influence. (http://www.earthemperor.com/2009/06/14/foundations-their-power-and-influence-by-rene-a-wormser/)" (Carroll Quigley, "Tragedy & Hope", pp. 954-955)

Writing in the New York Times, on May 1 1922, Samuel Gompers, the president of the American Federation of Labor, stated:

"I am mindful of the newly adopted policy of the American- Anglo-German banking group, which perhaps constitutes the most dangerous element in the whole chain of pro-Bolshevik effort in America, because it has its hands on the most power.
The truth is that predatory international finance has its appetite up and believes it sees loot in Russia.
I know of nothing more cynical than the attitude of European statesmen and financiers toward the Russian muddle. Essentially it is their purpose as laid down at Genoa to place Russia in economic vassalage and give political recognition in exchange-recognition in exchange for concessions. They know immediate trade is not to be had, but they know that, eventually, they can get at the gold, the coal, the oil, the timber and future products of the soil.
Russia herself is on the bargain counter, behind which stands Lenine as a bandit merchant, to take what he can get and what will serve his purpose in exchange for the heritage of a people rendered helpless by him and his. America, let us hope, will continue to stand for Russian economic independence as well as political freedom.
[...]
American Business is asked to join in that helpless escapace, that miserable and contemptible business, the looting of that vast domain, and to facilitate its efforts certain American bankers engaged in mortgaging the world are willing to sow among their people the fiendish, anti-democratic propaganda of Bolshevism, subsidizing buying, intimidating, cajoling. There are splendid and notable exceptions, but he great powers of the American-Anglo-German financing combinations have set their faces toward the prize displayed by a people on their knees.
[...]
Most important is the espousal of the American- Anglo-German bankers who like to call themselves international financiers to dignify and conceal their true function and limitation. Specifically, the most important banker in this group, and speaking for this group, born in Germany, as it happens, has issued orders to high friends and associates that all must now work for Soviet recognition.": http://query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?res=F10A12F93C5D1A7A93C3A9178ED85F468285F9

In the book Geneva versus Peace (Sheed & Ward, New York, 1937), Comte de Saint-Aulaire, French Ambassador to Great Britain in the 1920s, discussed his meetings with Kuhn, Loeb, & Co. financiers. They had discussions regarding why they [the Kuhn, Loeb, & Co. bankers] financed the Bolshevik Revolution. Here's what one of them said (p. 80):

"You say that Marxism is the very antithesis of capitalism, which is equally sacred to us. It is precisely for this reason that they are direct opposites to one another, that they put into our hands the two poles of this planet and allow us to be its axis. These two contraries, like Bolshevism and ourselves, find their identity in the International. These opposites, which are at the antipodes to one another in society and in their doctrines meet again in the identity of their purpose and end, the remaking of the world from above by the control of riches, and from below by revolution."

In order to understand this process further, let me bring your attention to the “Peace” Symbol:

It’s obvious in light of the above what we are dealing with here. The “Peace” Symbol represents a contrived dialectic, synthesizing within a controlled boundary. The vertical line in the middle represents the intended direction which was to be created by placing thesis and antithesis against each other. It is important to realize that for this to be effective, nether thesis nor antithesis should address prime realities, thus the assertion that the circle represents the controlled boundary beyond which discussion must not reach.

In light of that, consider the following symbol from G. Edward Griffin’s “Freedom Force International”, of the libertarian (Austrian) right:

Stefan Molyneux is a prominent "libertarian" speaker, see his logo:

and consider the following image from City Lights Bookstore, of the Socialist (Marxist) left:

Now, I'm not implying that Griffin, Molyneux and the owners of City lights intended for this symbol to indicate some sort of malevolent inside joke. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. That is ultimately irrelevant, however, since their messages are just more vectors in the dialectic matrix (http://wwws.forummotion.com/t66-dialectics-vectors-vector-leaders).

Remember that full spectrum dominance means dominance over all colors, whether they by libertarian, left, right, socialist, ... whatever is in the pubic consciousness. That which hurts elitist dominance structures is marginalized and distorted (see Mason Gaffney’s work on Georgism entitled The Corruption of Economics. See also the book A Writ for Martyrs, documenting how the precursor to Mullins' book Secrets of the Federal Reserve  was burned in Germany). A related item is the harassment of Walter Burien for being one of the few people to expose the fraud underlying government accounting operations.

I'd now like to bring your attention to a very perceptive comment made by Philip K. Dick:

"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. … So I ask, in my writing, what is real? Because unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it. And it is an astonishing power: that of creating whole universes, universes of the mind.” Philip K. Dick, How to Build a Universe That Doesn't Fall Apart Two Days Later, 1978.

In addition to Observation, Orientation must be controlled, so that the enemy (us) will not be able to summon our resources to properly escape domination. Thus the information in the comment section to the following: http://archive.org/details/GeorgeHuntUncedEarthSummit1992cobdenClubsPapersaldousHuxleythe_125

Those who somehow manage to escape the control over O-O will, if this is achieved, be recognized as outliers via “sense and respond” systems in the sensor/information/engagement grid informing the Elite’s OODA loop, which utilizes Network Centric Warfare. They may be disoriented via informational/chemical/biological attack, or they may be eliminated entirely.

So, to recap, the above definition shows that in the system at present and coming into view (unless we do something about it), the Elite executes their OODA loop more efficiently than the rest of the population, and the Action that they take is to try and dominate the O-O aspects of OUR OODA loop. Those immune to this action will, if we do not stop them, be dealt with in the ways discussed in the above paragraph.

This is how they have achieved, and will achieve total control. The system we are entering is going to be far more terrible than 1984, if we allow it to happen.

Bad as that sounds, this post is fortunately incredibly good news. Here’s why: We can be as speculative as we want about systems of control throughout history, but with what I have described, no speculation is necessary. With this laid out, if it ever became a part of the public consciousness, such a massive wave of revulsion would ensue and people would reject this contrived system. Then, hopefully, we might be able to construct a more humanitarian society.

By that, I mean that the thesis and antithesis should give a distorted view of what's going on, so that they don't destroy the possibility of a degenerate control structure. Marxism and Austrian economics, the examples I highlighted, do this very well.

Yes, I see they are both faulty solutions.

Thank you for clarifying this.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through this amazing document and hardly know WHAT to think it is so unexpected...and strange..
I'll have to wait until I finish it to give an opinion. It certainly seems that somewhere along the way we have had some amazing mad geniuses operating from the shadows, creating the loathesomely evil conditions that encompass us today.

It is really a fascinating read, but requiring a lot of mental reorganizing for understanding, for me, so far. More after I've finished it...
