I mean seriously, I like being able to fly on an airplane and see another part of the world within hours. Also, I like to hear music anytime I want with an amazing variety of choices. The Internet allows me to do research and do the kind of learning that would have taken many times as long using conventional libraries.

I've heard Alan Watt at http://www.cuttingthroughthematrix.net reiterate many times how "the Internet" was planned from the start to be used to gather data and monitor us, and to manage our lives, in a Soviet type of system. He sees it as an "evil" of sorts. I cannot agree with this, it's like saying the causes of war are guns and tanks. I also think the Internet is a good thing overall.

IP had suggested (correct me if I am wrong) that the course of action to take when awareness will have reached critical mass would be to "walk away from their system". Any elaboration?

I think to design our own system would be one kind of solution. Or to work within the existing one, despite the limitations.

I also don't think it would be possible to go back to any kind of life in of the past either. We are stuck with the challenges of today's modern world, and that includes technology. I think we are meant to make progress, however fast it may have to be. It's just a question of how, with what values, and in whose interest.

It seems like there are some Christian/religious type of people here, I respect that. However I feel would not feel that comfortable with neo-Luddism: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Luddism. I mention this because someone I've known for a while has suddenly become somewhat of a fanatic, religiously, and I found it to correlate with anti-science sentiment. I suppose it's probably only common to some type of religious belief systems and not all.

As an individual who fits the description at that bottom, I have a hard time comprehending a world without the technologies that are currently in place. Although I dont use some of them for their apparent reasons because all they do is spread lies, propaganda and misinformation. Others may say that about religion. I fully understand and comprehend that. As Watt observed that the internet was meant as data gathering tool for collectivism. Its hard for me to not use or conceive of a world without the internet nor do I think I would want to get rid of it. Although I do think that once the simulacrum was exposed and dismatled that a reworking of the internet could easily be done to block all data gathering or protections could be put in place to prevent this its just that it would take time and downtime would have to occur.

I will add more of my comments on this later when I am not on lunch break.
