Innocuous looking road button, installed on every street parallel parking spot in the city. But inside this plastic knob is a wireless transmitter that senses if an automobile is parked in the parking spot and reports that information back to a central system. Stay too long, and a meter maid is dispatched to give you a ticket.
How long before each car is sensed individually. Don't pay your registration in time and park in one of these parking spots, and a tow truck is automatically dispatched to tow and impound your vehicle.
Are these in your city?

Check out Sprint's new phone, launching on June 4, 2010. Specifically, go to around minute 2:45 and watch the demo of the Virtual Reality Browser. The presenter shows the phone's camera identifying members of the audience as he points the phone at the audience and pans. The phone then automatically query's Google Goggles and returns back images of each audience members that it identifies and what they have recently tweeted.
Can you imagine if you're walking in a crowd and all someone has to do is point their phone camera at you and up pops on their screen an entire personality profile of you and everything you've done on the web in the last 48hrs. What porn sites you've looked at, what purchases you've made, what bills you've paid, what you've posted on various forums, what others have said about you in various personality rating systems, your entire work history. It's endless.
How do we protect ourselves from this kind of invasion from anyone with $300 for a phone?

Makes me think of the google car rolling around collecting data for google earth. I intuitively feel that they are keeping tabs on the driving public with real time license plate analysis.

I suspect that those ubiquitous street cameras that sprout up everywhere may have an *emitting capability* as well as a recording capability. There are just TOO damned MANY of them to believe their stated purpose of just "taking pictures".
