PostSubject: Unjust War mutates to Undeclared War   Tue 02 Feb 2010, 3:44 pm

Jesse Benton tells us that the C4L survey being sent to candidates asks their position on "Undeclared" war, as if the answer to that question is relevant. This is semantic manipulation right in front of our faces. It seems like it was only yesterday that Ron Paul stood up on the debate staged and fiercely argued against the move to Unjust war. Was that just a scam?

Further, who sends out a survey to candidates and actually believes their answers?

Listen to Jesse Benton do whatever it takes to keep the sheeple in their pens and under the libertarian institutions' control.

I think Ron Paul's comments are just damage control so that people who are disappointed with C4L can look and think "he's doing something about it". Next donation please.

Here's what I posted on Just War Theory

Quote :
There is no such thing as a just war.
C4L posted this video (Nov 2009) with Ron discussing Just War Theory.
Daily Paul also posted the same video on Jan 24, 2010.

"You just don't go to war as a first resort against those that have not attacked us"

"One of the major reasons we fought the Revolution and had a Constitution was
to take that power away from the Executive [power of war making]"

Just War consists primarily of two branches: jus ad bellum (the justice of war) and jus in bello (justice in war). The latter concerns the means by which we wage war and there it may be appropriate for our standards to change over time and, especially, to take into account the evolution of new political systems and the developments in technology and the like. The former, jus ad bellum, was expressed at the US Catholic Conference (1933) as: "Force may be used only to correct a grave, public evil, i.e., aggression or massive violation of the basic human rights of whole populations."

In Michael Walzer's book,"Just and Unjust Wars A Moral Argument With Historical Illustrations," he describes jus ad bellum in the following way:

  1. There exists an international society of independent states.
  2. This international society has a law that establishes the rights of its members--above all, the rights of territorial integrity and political sovereignty.
  3. Any use of force or imminent threat of force by one state against the political sovereignty or territorial integrity of another constitutes aggression and is a criminal act.
  4. Aggression justifies two kinds of violent response: a war of self-defense by the victim and a war of law enforcement by the victim and any other member of international society.
  5. Nothing but aggression can justify war.
  6. Once the aggressor state has been militarily repulsed, it can also be punished.
