Very true. I think it's because somehow government has acquired an undeserved status: that they are trustworthy. The major media must have indoctrinated us with that idea while we weren't looking (or snuck it into some deodorant commercial , sheesh.) The healthiest thing that could possibly happen would be if Americans would start mistrusting their *feral* government.

It isn't all that simple, either, For example, and for a to me reasonable question, why don't the Palestinians stop attacking Israel? Additionally, I think there is much more to this than it may appear. The entire conflict could very well be one of the Master Planners' ongoing OPS... a simulacrum, or staged conflict, call it what you will-but I somehow doubt that Israel could not have dispatched Hamas & their associates a long time ago IF they had wanted to. Their military superiority is too overwhelming for this not to be so. So, I ask: does either side really want this conflict to end, really?? Or are the leaders paid handsomely for the ongoing "war" -- with their innocent populations as mere 'collateral damage."
The Palestinians don't stop attacking because they are under a military occupation 24/7. Even if the IDF didn't not initiate something violent on any given day they are still all over the Palestinian land guarding their roads and forcing them to go through military checkpoints just to travel on their own land basically lording over them. Palestinians die on a fairly regular basis because they are trying to get medical care and cannot get through the checkpoints in time. Then you have the bulldozed Palestinian neighborhoods with Israeli fortresses build on top of them complete with high walls and IDF guards. Even when there is a cease fire they have these horrible communities there to remind them that they are just subjects of the lowest class to the Israeli government. The Palestinians are so desperate it is common for them to attack the USA funded IDF with ROCKS, stop and think about the levels of anger combined with hopelessness that would drive someone to do something so insane. It never had anything to do with religion, religion was just a convenient propaganda point.
Israel does not want the violence to stop and probably has ties to Hamas simply because if true peace broke out they would instantly lose their excuse to have their military occupation and would lose the power to continue building settlements. Eventually it will reach the point where there are so many settlements and so many Palestinians have died off of fled the entire region that Israel will be able to say "well, the majority of the people in the area are Jews who want to be part of Israel so this land may as well be party of Israel". Then at that point they could even hold a vote to make it happen because there really would be more Israeli jews than Palestinians. They already have de facto ownership of the land due to their military force, they are just slowly working their way through a propaganda campaign/PR battle so that eventually they will be able to claim it as all part of Israel and have the rest of the world accept it.
I am sure there are Palestinian leaders (within Hamas or Hezbollah etc.) who are in bed with Israel and do not want the conflict to end but as far as the Palestinian people they have every reason to want it to end. Some people even think these groups were created by Israel. That doesn't mean they should be willing to to just give up fighting and be treated as animals by the IDF.
The Palestinians are really getting fucked because they had no real government and in the world's eyes it is government rights not individual rights that matter. It is just the strong preying on the weak.

Though I hate to admit it. I think Israel already won. They've already got spies and agents in Hamas and they created a civil war. Now instead we see "14 Isrealli soldiers were killed" we see "24 Gaza police forces were killed". But it is never too late.
