FDA Cuts Off Access to Your Own Genes!
---
Want the truth? You can't handle the truth!
The FDA thinks you're too dumb to understand disease risk and what it means -- so stupid, you shouldn't even be allowed access to information from your own genes.
So they're trying to shut down 23andme, makers of a spit test that can help determine everything from where your ancestors lived to what disease risks you might be facing.
Is the test perfect? Of course not... it's new technology, and at this point I'd say it's as much about entertainment as it is information.
But as a starting point, these things could do a world of good.
If you find you have a higher risk of dementia, you could up your intake of brain-friendly nutrients such as fish oil and B vitamins. Or if you find you're prone to diabetes, maybe you'll finally take my advice and get cracking on that low-carb diet.
But the feds say you're not smart enough to do that. You're not even smart enough to do nothing at all.
No, they claim that if you're a woman with a higher risk of breast cancer, you might rush out and have your boobs hacked off (as if you could have it done on any street corner).
So what they're really saying here isn't just that 23andme shouldn't be selling you information about your own genes. It's that YOU shouldn't be allowed to have it -- EVER -- because YOU can't be trusted with it.
This isn't just the usual Nanny State overreach aimed at protecting you from yourself. No, this is about something bigger and far more sinister: keeping you in the dark about your health.
Knowledge IS power, and the last thing they want is empowered patients able to make their own decisions.
Who knows -- a country full of empowered patients might skip flu shots, pass on the statins and say NO to socialized medicine. That's what they're afraid of... and that's why you need to fight any attempt to take knowledge away from you -- especially when it's knowledge that belongs to you in the first place.
You'll find a petition here. If it gets 100,000 signatures, the White House will be forced to respond. Give it a shot.*
